Ask your administrator if you think this is wrong. ====== Domain Pages ====== Besides games, a domain has pages of its own: the rules, "about us", a F.A.Q., contacts. They live at ''/page/<identifier>'' and are edited in the **pages studio**: in the admin bar — **"Domain" → "Pages"**. A page used to be edited on the page itself, and to create a new one you had to type an address that did not exist yet. Now it is a screen of its own, and the page has become just a page — there is no editing form on it for anybody. ===== How It Is Laid Out ===== At the top — the bar about the page as a whole: the **page picker**, its address, the **"not saved"** mark, and the **"Save"**, **"New page"** and **"Delete page"** buttons. {{ :admin_main:domain_pages_studio_en.png?800 |The pages studio: the bar on top, the editor on the left, the live preview on the right}} Below — two halves: * on the left, the **editor** — the same visual editor as for tasks, with a source mode; * on the right, the **live preview** — the whole page, with the domain's header, menu and styling. It redraws itself half a second after you stop typing. The preview has switches of its own: the language, **full width** or **as on a phone**, redraw, and open on the site in a new tab. > The preview is drawn **through your eyes**: it also shows the admin bar, which a player will not have. To see the page exactly as a player does, open it on the site — with the arrow button. ===== A New Page ===== The **"New page"** button asks only for an identifier — which is the tail of the address: Latin letters, digits, a hyphen and an underscore, no longer than 32 characters. The future address is shown right under the field. The page is created empty and at once, without waiting for "Save". ===== The Draft ===== Everything you type goes into a **draft in your browser** — together with every language of the page. Close the tab, crash the browser, go to another page and come back — the text is still there. When the open page is shown from a draft, a yellow bar stands on top with the time of the edit and the **"Take the server's version"** button: it throws the draft away and brings back what is stored. The draft lives in **your** browser. On another computer it is not there; the only dependable copy is a saved page. ===== Saving ===== **"Save"** first shows the **"Changes before saving"** window — line by line, for every changed language. Only the languages you touched are written: two people may be working on one page. ===== Languages ===== A page has two different ways of becoming multilingual, and they do not mix. * **The domain dictionary.** The page stays one, while its phrases are translated as "source → translation" pairs on the [[en:admin_main:domain_localization|"Translation"]] screen. This is the default way. * **A copy of its own per language.** A separate text for that language — when the other language needs not the same page but a different one. **A copy always beats the dictionary:** if it exists, the dictionary is not applied to the page in that language. The language bar — the language picker, "Add a language", "Remove this copy" — does not appear straight away: first tick **"Do not translate this page with the dictionary"**. While the page is translated by the dictionary there is no point in adding copies, and the bar is not there. "Remove this copy" is an edit, not a deletion: the copy disappears on saving, and the dictionary starts working for that language again. ===== Deleting ===== **"Delete page"** removes it at once, without waiting for "Save" — together with **every** language copy and translation.
