A game may stand in a season or it may not; it gets there **by hand**, once it has been played. * The list of the domain's seasons — ''https://YOUR_DOMAIN/ratings.php'' * The table of one season — ''https://YOUR_DOMAIN/rating.php?season=NUMBER'' Seasons are created and managed by the **domain admin**; the author of a game can only look. ===== Creating a Season ===== Seasons live on the ''add_rating.php'' page: there is the list of the ones already made, the **"Name of the new season..."** field and the **"Add a Season"** button. > The button fires **on the second press**: after the first one it renames itself to "100% Add a Season" for three seconds. That is how every irreversible button on this site works — it is not a fault. ===== Adding a Game to a Season ===== A game is added **from its statistics page**: at the bottom, under the table, there is the row **"Add the game to the season rating"** — a season picker and the "Add" button. The places are taken exactly as they stand in the table at that moment, so: * first bring the game to an end — [[en:authors_main:lifecycle:running_and_closing|autopasses and stopping the game]]; * hidden teams do not take a place, so take the test team and the organisers' team out beforehand — with the "Hide a team from the statistics" row in the same admin block; * teams that took no level and earned no bonuses do not get into the rating at all. Then the score calculation page opens: * **The formula** — the field holds ''1 + teams - place'': the first place gets as many points as there were teams, the last one gets one. The **"Recalculate"** button applies the formula to the table of places. * The formula is an ordinary expression, and instead of a calculation you can write ready-made points per place: ''[7, 4, 3, 1, 1, 1][place - 1]''. * The points in the table **can be edited by hand**, on any row, after the calculation. * **"Save"** writes the result into the season. To recount a game, take the same route: add it to the same season once more — the previous result of that game is replaced. ===== Managing a Season ===== On the season page, above the table, the admin has the **"Managing the season"** block of three rows: * **"Switch a game's ordinariness flag"** — a game picker and the "Switch" button. A special game is **always counted and does not take up a slot in the limit** (see below). The flag toggles; there is no separate "make special" and "make ordinary". * **"The number of ordinary games counted"** — a number and the "Set" button. * **"Remove a game from the rating"** — a game picker, the **"I confirm"** checkbox and the red "Remove" button. Without the tick the button silently does nothing. When no games are left in the season, a fourth row appears — **"Delete the whole season"**. While there are games, the season cannot be deleted as a whole: remove them one by one first. ===== The Scoring Rule ===== A team's season total is **every special game plus the best N ordinary ones**, where N is that same "number of ordinary games counted". * The remaining ordinary games are **shown but not summed**. * If a team has no more than N ordinary games, there is nothing to cross out and everything is summed. * On a tie, the **earlier** game is the one crossed out. * To not limit the count at all, set a number knowingly larger than the number of games in the season: **from a hundred the limit counts as lifted**, and the banner about the rule disappears from the table. What of this the player sees: * above the table, the banner **"The best ordinary games of the season are counted: N"**, and it only appears when the limit actually cuts something off; * a special game is tagged with the word **"special"** in its column header; * a result that did not make the cut is **struck through**, with the caption **"not counted"** under it; * in the "Season total" column, next to the sum, stands "Games: N" and, when not all of them counted, ", counted: M" as well. > **The "Games" menu above the table saves nothing.** Its checkboxes take a game out of the view — and the scoring is immediately recomputed without it. This is a way to see "what if", including for the admin before changing the number of counted games.
