How to get the JSON of a task or a game
JSON is the text form of a task or of a whole game. It is what you send to another author, keep as your own backup, or paste into another game with the “Paste tasks from the clipboard…“ button.
Everything below is in Editor 2.
The JSON of one task
The "Copy JSON" button
- Open the task card.
- Press “Copy JSON” at the bottom of the card.
- The task's JSON goes to the clipboard — paste it into a chat, into a file, or straight into another game.
That copy carries no task number and no identifiers: they belong to the game the task was copied from. So the copy can be pasted anywhere as it is — the task lands at the end of the scenario and gets its number there.
The task's JSON mode
- Press the “JSON” button in the header of the task card.
- The card shows the whole task as one text field: its fields, codes, bonuses and hints.
- You can select and copy the text, and you can edit it right there — the edits go into the draft.
Unlike the “Copy JSON” button, this shows the task as it is, number and identifiers included.
The JSON of a whole game
The "Download JSON" button
- Press “Download JSON” in the editor's top bar.
- The browser saves a
game_<game id>.jsonfile with the whole scenario: game settings, tasks, global bonuses and task orders.
This is the safest way to keep a version of a game: the file is yours and depends on neither the browser nor the server. “Upload JSON” brings it back.
The "JSON" tab
- Open the “JSON” tab.
- It holds the current draft of the game in full — select it and copy.
- Edited text goes into the draft with the “Apply JSON to the draft” button.
What to do with the JSON you got
- Paste it into another game of yours — the “Paste tasks from the clipboard…“ button under the task list. If the JSON holds more than tasks, the editor asks what to take out of it.
- Send it to another author, as text or as a file.
- Keep it as a backup before reworking a scenario.
Pasting and uploading JSON changes only the draft in your browser. It reaches the server after the “Save…“ button and the confirmation in the window listing the changes.
